I totally missed the boat on Metroid back in the day. I know, it's a heavy shame to live with.

Super Metorid was pretty neat in its day, Metroid Prime was a clunky shooter stuck on an underpowered console, where they only story was in findable text files.

Hardly the best or greatest game ever.

It looked great for its time though. Nothing was jagged, so it's not like the gamecube really harmed the game.
And I enjoyed the exploration necessary to understand the story..... kind of reminds me of Wind Waker

Yeah... no.

Metroid Prime came out in 2002, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault also came out in 2002.

One is a cinematic and immersive masterpiece (though still not even close to best game ever), the other is a clunky thing with some sort of half baked auto-aim feature and a scavenger hunter in place of a real story.

I try my best to not insult other people's tastes, but when someone goes around claiming "best game ever" I shall kick and scream with the best of the fanboys.

Besides, E.T. on the Atari was the best game ever, everyone knows that.

I actually owned and played that... the ignorance of youth.

Better candidate for best game discussion is needed me thinks. Oh and screaming kicking fanboy here also. Windwaker was the least enjoyable Zelda for me. Super Metroid is for me the superior title.

Super Nes owners without this title were missing out huge.

I played and beat Metroid Prime One and played (but never beat) Metroid Prime Two.

I am a big fan of what they did with it.. i thought it still felt like Metroid without being bogged down by the heritage of the series.

I wish they'd make another 2D platformer, althrough Metroid 4 (Fusion) sort of left me confused and disappointed.
