Blizzcon 2011

Post by DarkCow » October 21st, 2011, 5:36 pm

Since I am not a WoW player anymore, I didn't spring for the virtual ticket this year; but I am going to watch the free opening ceremony to see if they announce anything exciting.

But it did get me wondering; a lot of game companies host their own Cons these days, if SWTOR is a hit and their further stable of strong IPs (Mass Effect, Dragon Age) do you think a BioCon is our near future?

I would definitely buy a virtual ticket to BioCon. SWTOR has already been showing up at every Con even remotely related to the game and I think it would behoove them to continue to do that until the game has garnered most, if not all, of WoW's fan base. I can also see them taking Mass Effect online, perhaps Dragon Age too. The possibilities are limitless when you're talking about the amazing work that BioWare puts out. They certainly have enough interest drawn to their franchises and a BioCon could be a great platform to expand on or create new ones.

I would hold out secret hope that they would hold such a con in their Headquarter city in Edmonton, so I would be able to go. But they would probably wuss out and have it in the States somewhere. :(

I am not opposed to going to a Con that includes SWTOR. Especially if they give away exclusive in-game goodies like they do for WoW. It would be even more fun to form a Shrub contingent and make a big splash and get publicity :)

I would LOVE it if they did it at BW/Austin because its so close, but I can get wherever I need to go... If they do it in Vegas, I'll be in Shrub heaven!

Vegas is a good place for a Con of any kind. But I like to hold on the the small shred of Provincial gaming pride that we have and still say they could put on a good show in Alberta.

Seeing as I can't really take Vacation days whenever I want I'm pretty limited to travel destinations. If I end up having the time off, and its economically feasible, I'll consider a trip. Maybe I could even convince Prom to go too.

Like the two of you though, I'd be much happier, and likely to go, if it was in my area.

If you are limited to 1-2 days at a time, it would require air travel which can be very expensive if you can't plan too far ahead. I'd love to road trip somewhere... Canada would be fun. I just hope they have these things!

Also.... I was arguing with Prom that WoW hadn't really jumped the shark with Cataclysm... but I just watched the reveal video for "Mists of Pandaria" and I literally facepalmed.

Thank god for SWTOR.

I used that term when describing Pandaria to my wife today... WoW finally jumped the shark.

:o

They really did jump the shark. What the hell were they thinking? What was that expansion brain storming meeting like? "Hey, we all know this game's going down the crapper, so everyone here is going to make a Kung Fu Panda expansion because my son really wants it."
