I had a "Cthulhu for President" sign hanging in my cube at my last job. Turns out not too many of my co-workers had ever heard of Lovecraft... Yeah, that was an interesting conversation to have...

Ha!
Yeh, one can't properly give another a cliff-notes version of the Elder gods & expect "oh wow, sounds great." For those that haven't read Lovecraft but love the Evil Dead movie trilogy, the Necronomicon was based on Lovecraft's works.

As for relaxing good laugh reads done well, I'd have to strenuously recommend Christopher Moore. One of the few that can wonderfully blend slapstick w/ wit, much like Monty Python or Douglas Adams. All his tomes are a great time, but esp:
"Lamb. The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal." hilarious & surprisingly touching in parts
"Fool." - effectively the story of Lear{w/ a mix of other Shakespearean references} as told by a jester called Pocket. One of my all-time favorite humour tomes. [smilie=jester.gif]

If you really like Shakespeare & the absurd, Robert Nye has a cpl Shakespeare inspired books. Really really bawdy & lecherous. "Falstaff" is my favorite.
His treatment of "Faust" is excellent as well.

Happy reading!

I am convinced that I am the only person in the world who does not like Discworld. :">

And for you, an extra special hell is being prepared as we speak. This hell will be based on that little known book "1001 things Dolores Umbridge can do with 2 quarts of Greek Yoghurt, a 5 Zhu Zhu Pets, and a Tony Little's Gazelle".

*cowers in fear* I had a professor who reminded me so much of Dolores Umbridge. She spoke in that same simpering style and her office was full of cutesie little nicknacks. The day that class ended, I promised myself I would never take her again.
